Canada ’s Home Renovation Tax Credit
In January 2009 the Federal Government created a new tax credit to encourage homeowners to renovate their home. This is a part of the governments’ stimulus package and will provide a non-refundable tax credit of up to $1350 for customers who change windows and doors now. The tax credit is non-refundable, meaning simply that if you didn’t pay any federal taxes then you would not be able to use it…and you would not get it back as a refund. But for the vast majority of our customers this is equivalent to a new temporary discount of 13 ½ percent.
