Service

Will it be the manufacturer or the installer? Does the company you are considering have dedicated factory trained Customer Service personnel who can solve both manufacturing and installation issues that may come up in the future?

Unfortunately, small contractors cannot afford to employ full time service technicians and often cannot afford to take a day off work themselves to look after service issues. Even if the installation company does respond, they may well lack the product knowledge that a manufacturer may have. Conversely, the manufacturer will certainly not have the installation experience and will often depend on the installer to fix the problem…or worst of all “return it to the manufacturer for repair”.

Ask for the Service telephone number and who will answer that number when your contractor is out doing his job. You don’t want to find yourself describing a service problem to an answering service!

Once again it pays to deal with one company to both manufacture and install your new windows and doors, and that company should be able to show you their service policy before you buy!
